Overview
We will present the best current evidence of care so community practitioners may update their knowledge and practices to improve the care provided at the time of presentation and prior to referral to quaternary care.

Objectives
  1. Review the common causes of cirrhosis, including hepatitis B, hepatitis C and alcoholic liver disease.
  2. Evaluate current management for hepatocellular carcinoma.
  3. Recognize the spectrum of acute hepatic failure and the need for liver transplantation vs. medical therapy alone.
  4. Discuss the current state of liver transplantation, including the role of new immunosuppressives and the place of living donor transplantation.

Registration

The fee is $40 for attending physicians and is waived for trainees, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Continental breakfast, refreshments and a light lunch are provided. Space is limited. No refunds will be issued after November 8.

The Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
