Overview
This is a one day CME conference called Pediatric Dermatology for the Practitioner on November 4, 2023. All lectures are presented by Lurie Children's Pediatric Dermatology providers.

Objectives
  1. Utilize painless approaches to treat pediatric warts, appreciate when to refer, and understand both traditional and evolving therapies for molluscum contagiosum.
  2. Appreciate clinical pearls in diagnosing and treating a variety of dermatologic conditions in patients with skin of color.
  3. Design an acne therapeutic plan and appreciate evolving acne treatment options.
  4. Decide when to monitor and when to treat (or refer) infants with infantile hemangiomas (IH), appreciate potential IH associations and complications, and safely consider topical therapies in the appropriate setting.
  5. Identify patients with melanocytic nevi who merit dermatology referral; recognize Spitz nevi and malignant melanoma; and educate patients and families on adequate sun protection strategies and skin self examinations.
  6. Recognize atypical viral exanthems including Gianotti Crosti syndrome, unilateral laterothoracic exanthem, pityriasis rosea (and variants), and enteroviral exanthems including atypical hand-foot-and-mouth disease and eczema Coxsackium.
  7. Appreciate the breadth of presentations of staphylococcal and streptococcal skin infections; recognize mimickers of these infections; and appreciate atypical mycobacterial infections in children
  8. Utilize updated lice therapy recommendations; incorporate newer scabies treatments into their clinical practice; recognize less common 10. infestations such as cutaneous larva migrans; address bedbug bites and infestations
  9. Utilize clinical pearls for diagnosing and treating pediatric dermatology patients and for collaborating with colleagues in the face of challenging clinical situations
  10. Confidently recognize normal skin variants and benign pigmentary findings; offer reassurance when indicated; distinguish when to refer as appropriate
  11. Relate to social media trends as they pertain to skin disorders or skin care and our patients; recognize and counsel against potentially-dangerous trends from a variety of platforms, including YouTube, TikTok and Instagram.
  12. Test their knowledge on diagnosis and treatment of pediatric dermatological “unknowns”.
  13. Utilize a primary care “topical steroid toolkit” for approaching such patients
  14. Distinguish concerning skin eruptions from rashes and the mucocutaneous blistering conditions
