Overview
This educational program is focused toward healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with brain tumors. The most up-to-date research, surgical, and clinical evidence-based information will be presented which will be reinforced through case discussions.

Objectives
  1. Review the biology of CNS metastases.
  2. Outline therapeutic treatment options for brain metastases from solid tumors and, in particular, from melanoma, breast cancer and lung cancer.
  3. Explain the controversy on whole brain radiotherapy: dogma versus facts.
  4. Outline the most recent developments and data on hippocampus sparing brain radiotherapy.
  5. Discuss the current data on metastases to the spine and when surgery is indicated.
  6. Describe the current and future trends in the management of brain metastases.
  7. Identify new and emerging technologies and applications in radiation oncology.
  8. Describe the current developments in supportive care as it relates to prolonged life.

Registration

The fee is $60 for physicians and $40 for trainees, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Breakfast, refreshments and lunch are provided. Space is limited.  


Accreditation

The Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
