One-day virtual program designed for the primary care professionals covering topics that patients face in utero, at birth and through early infancy. Topics may include genetic testing in pregnant women, neonate stressors, circumcision, ambiguous genitalia, NICU graduate, infant sleep and SIDS, newborn screening and breastfeeding.

Objectives
  1. Describe features of common penile anomalies
  2. Outline features of contemporary multidisciplinary care for patients with differences of sex development (DSD)/intersex conditions
  3. Detail anatomic criteria for newborn circumcision suitability
  4. Distinguish differences between newborn and operative circumcision procedures and timing
  5. Manage growth and nutrition in the early post-discharge period
  6. Identify and manage early developmental concerns
  7. Discuss genetic tests available in pregnancy
  8. Compare and contrast screening versus diagnostic testing options
  9. Describe classical presentation of inborn errors of metabolism.
  10. Review the approach to metabolic newborn screening program in Illinois
  11. Evaluate newborn screening in management of emergent metabolic evaluations
  12. Identify and differentiate between common and uncommon causes of fussiness in infants, including gastrointestinal issues, sleep disturbances, and developmental variations
  13. Implement effective, individualized management plans for fussy infants, incorporating both non-pharmacological interventions and, when appropriate, pharmacological treatments
  14. Discuss what makes late preterm infants different from term infants
  15. Recognize ways to mitigate the challenges that late preterm infants initially have
  16. Describe common errors in car seat selection, installation, and use
  17. Explain the current epidemiology of SIDS/SUID
  18. Guide families on infant products for car seat and sleep
