Overview
One day virtual meeting designed by pediatric trained emergency medicine specialists specifically for primary care providers who are interested in gaining more knowledge in common conditions, problems and urgent situations that present in the ER. This meeting offers in-person attendance format only and will not be recorded.

Objectives
  1. Define the burden of pediatric community-acquired pneumonia.
  2. Review current guidelines for pediatric community-acquired pneumonia and examine current challenges
  3. Discuss physical exam findings associated with child sexual abuse and ways that healthcare providers can help protect evidence in cases of child sexual abuse
  4. Formulate strategies for managing behavioral health emergencies and develop an approach to the evaluation of youth expressing suicidal thoughts or behaviors
  5. Review management of pediatric patients with minor trauma during in person or remote encounters and escalation of care options
  6. Describe the injury equity framework as a tool to examine current and historical contributors to inequities
  7. Describe the epidemiology of drowning and crash-related injuries among children and youth in the US
  8. List the top 3 exam findings that help differentiate abuse from accidental trauma
  9. Describe the top 3 presentations of abuse and how they differ from accidental injury presentations
  10. Describe recommended treatment options and benefits for acute asthma exacerbations
  11. Discuss recent updates to national and international treatment guidelines for pediatric asthma
  12. Formulate a broad differential for common causes of pediatric red eye complaints and differentiate which conditions are more urgent
  13. Summarize the appropriate management options for various pediatric ‘red eye’ conditions
  14. Implement actions that will allow you and your practice to function and survive following a disaster
  15. edness that will allow your practice to keep employees safe and operationalize infections emergency preparedness
  16. Practice talking points to help children and youth with special health care needs safely navigate a disaster
  17. Integrate key recommendations to ensure primary care office preparedness for a medical emergency
  18. Describe the epidemiologic trends in pediatric firearm injury and violence in the United States and screen children for firearm access and violence
  19. Critically analyze the implementation and effectiveness of current policies and laws related to firearm injury prevention
  20. Identify the rashes commonly seen in the emergency department and discuss management recommendations

*Registration is due approximately 10 days prior to each course and is non-refundable unless cancellation is received seven days prior to the event. If registering for the discount package will all five events (Pediatric Pearls Fall, ENT, Winter, Spring, and Emergency Medicine), registration is due October 23, 2023.


**NEW REFUND POLICY FOR 2023**

  There is a new, strict no-refund policy unless request is received seven days prior to the event. Consideration will be given to emergency situations and a credit for a future event will be offered.
