Overview
The 7th Annual Conference of Pediatric Emergency Medicine will continue to present highly relevant pediatric topics to provide PEM physicians and staff, pediatricians, primary care providers and ancillary staff with the most up to date information available for routinely addressed topics commonly encountered with the pediatric patient. This year will include presentations focusing on ophthalmology, sepsis, close head injuries, dermatology, disaster management and preparation, trauma and stabalization of the sick neonate.

Objectives
  1. Discuss the presentation, differential diagnosis and treatment of pediatric ocular diseases and trauma presenting in the acute care setting.
  2. Discuss the principles of sepsis recognition and treatment in the pediatric population.
  3. Apply PECARN rules to determining the need for attaining imaging in pediatric closed head injury.
  4. Identify the unique challenges and considerations of pediatric disaster management and preparation
  5. Describe a differential diagnosis and systematic approach to the initial management of an undifferentiated, critically ill neonate.
  6. Demonstrate the evaluation and management strategies specific to trauma in the pediatric population
  7. Identify the common presentation, differential and treatment for dermatological disease presenting in the emergency department.
