Objectives
  1. Describe why suicide prevention should be a priority for healthcare providers, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic
  2. Describe why the COVID-19 pandemic is a multi-faceted risk factor for suicide (social isolation, unemployment, financial stress, etc.)
  3. List the key elements of effective suicide prevention in healthcare (training, screening/assessment, treatment, safety planning, transition of care, follow-up)
  4. Describe why suicide prevention must be embedded within a socio-cultural context (including age, race, ethnicity, religion, LGBTQ+, geography) and address inequities in our current healthcare system
  5. Identify resources available to healthcare providers to implement suicide prevention in the care continuum

Registration

This event will educate providers on suicide prevention and care, populations at highest risk, and reducing access to lethal means. The information will help providers address patients' mental health needs and help meet the COVID-related increased demand for high quality and equitable mental health care.

This activity is intended to meet the educational needs of medical providers from a variety of specialties as well as those working in mental & behavorial health. Healthcare professionals working in the following settings are especially encouraged to attend: behavioral health, emergency medicine, pediatrics, primary care, and public health.

The conference will be held over 2 half days:

Tuesday, January 26th 8:30am-1:00pm

Wednesday, January 27th 12:30-5:00pm
