Target Audience
Specialties - Cardiac Surgery, Cardiovascular Disease, Pediatrics

Overview
Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago presents the 17th Annual Chicago Sonographer Update: Echocardiographic Assessment of Common Congenital Heart Disease and Coronary Artery Imaging Workshop. This two day conference will focus on “back to the basics” of congenital heart disease and coronary artery imaging. Day one features defects such as ASD, VSD, AVSD, coarctation, and Tetralogy of Fallot with a pathology review of normal cardiac structures. The second day is dedicated to normal and abnormal coronary artery imaging with an optional hands-on scanning workshop. Covering topics such as ALCAPA, coronary artery fistulas, anomalous origins of coronary arteries and more. This conference was designed with the sonographer’s learning experience in mind. Lurie Children’s pediatric cardiologists and sonographers will deliver the lectures. The small-group, hands-on scanning sessions will be led by senior cardiac sonographers and will give participants an opportunity to improve their understanding of anatomy and scanning technique for assessing coronary arteries and pediatric specific views imaging. Interesting cases will be presented simultaneous to the hands-on scanning sessions.

Objectives
  1. Review the anatomy and imaging of common congenital heart lesions
  2. Demonstrate appropriate use of echocardiography to image coronary arteries
  3. Demonstrate normal and abnormal coronary artery patterns visualized with congenital heart disease and Kawasaki Disease
  4. Apply the pediatric specific imaging views and techniques to day-to-day practices
  5. Apply learned techniques to optimize and acquire echocardiographic images for accurate interpretation
