Overview
An annual two day Symposium on the topic of Child Maltreatment provided by the Child Abuse Pediatrics Division at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.

Objectives
  1. Acknowledge the association between intimate partner violence and child maltreatment.
  2. Identify ways to improve intimate partner violence screening and identification.
  3. Distinguish effective ways to present the medical evidence during direct examination and cross examination.
  4. Anticipate how best to respond to opposing expert opinions.
  5. Identify key factors in toxic stress in children.
  6. Detect biological impacts toxic stress has on children’s developing brain.
  7. Differentiate between the utility and limitations of screening vs confirmatory drug test results
  8. Recognize how LGBTQ+ youth interface with complex social systems including child welfare
  9. Identify the legal protections and restrictions affecting LGBTQ+ youth.
