Overview
This two and a half day course provides AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)tm, American Board of Surgery (ABS) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points and a hardcover textbook authored by the participating faculty. We have brought together 50 national experts in their respective fields of vascular care who have contributed an up-to-date written chapter that accompanies their corresponding 15-minute presentation. Speakers are selected based on recent peer-reviewed publications, national societal presentations, and/or recognized leaders in their discipline. The program provides a comprehensive analysis of the current management of vascular disease as it relates to treatment of extracranial cerebrovascular and supra-aortic trunk disease, new approaches to lower extremity arterial and venous problems, recent cutting-edge developments in open and endovascular approaches to treat aortic and visceral arterial disease, as well as novel techniques for hemodialysis access, complex venous problems, upper extremity disorders. Concluding each session, a 30-minute panel discussion will occur allowing the audience ample time to ask more in-depth questions of the experts. A long-standing tradition of our program has been the inclusion of several short case presentations given by the Northwestern faculty during the continental breakfast on Friday and Saturday mornings. We recognize the educational value of this interactive experience and invite the audience to participate along with our panelists.

Objectives
  1. Discuss new information about treatment of lower extremity venous disease
  2. Evaluate limitations of EVAR
  3. Describe expected outcomes of lower extremity revascularization for arterial occlusive disease following open surgical and endovascular techniques
  4. Discuss the growing application of TEVAR for thoracic aortic pathology
  5. Recall information on the latest in treatment of upper extremity vascular disease
  6. Discuss new trends in dialysis access surgery
  7. Demonstrate treatment options for visceral and renal artery aneurysm and occlusive disease
  8. Evaluate new developments in management of complex venous disease
  9. Describe the role and importance of vascular surgery medicine in comprehensive clinical care
  10. Evaluate the best practices for quality care
  11. List current treatment recommendations for extra-cranial carotid and supra-aortic trunk arterial occlusive disease
  12. Review changes to new and upcoming procedural and outpatient coding and billing
  13. Relay information about latest development in treatment of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm disease
