Overview
A live, virtual event offering a variety of topics that primary care heath provider would find of interest including Covid-19, obesity. substance use, sleep disorders, PCOS and contraceptives.

Objectives
  1. List 3 highly effective contraceptive methods.
  2. Recognize risks and benefits of various contraceptive measures.
  3. Develop proficiency in prescribing emergency contraception, oral contraceptive pills, and depo provera.
  4. Become familiar with clinical tools to aid in contraceptive counseling and when and where to refer for services.
  5. Describe the challenges in making a definitive diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome during the adolescent years.
  6. Discuss responses to various treatment approaches for polycystic ovary syndrome during adolescence.
  7. Discuss the new paradigm of obesity as a chronic disease and as a consequence of a deranged metabolic setpoint.
  8. Describe the role of the primary care pediatrician in preventing, diagnosing and treating overweight and obesity and their associated co-morbidities in the medical home setting.
  9. Utilize appropriate methods to screen adolescents for alcohol, tobacco and drug use.
  10. Articulate the value and limitations of urine drug testing in clinical practice.
  11. Provide effective brief interventions to substance using adolescents.
  12. Provide counseling to patient/families in a variety of substance use cases.
  13. Review latest epidemiology of COVID-19 infection and associated complications.
  14. Discuss latest recommendations for diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 and Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C).
  15. Review latest information about SARS-CoV2 pathogenesis and vaccine development.
  16. Recognize most common problems associated with difficulties falling asleep in younger children, pre-teens, and teens.
  17. Basic evaluation of bedtime problems (bedtime resistance, difficulties falling asleep).
  18. Review treatment options including some behavioral interventions, barriers to treatment, and need for further referral.
  19. Review some available resources to assist primary care pediatric health care providers to solve bedtime problems.
