Overview
This activity will inform primary care providers caring for pediatric patient up-to-date information on topics routinely addressed in the primary care setting. Lectures presented by experts in the field will include: Dr. R. Greg Webster pediatric cardiology, Ms. Jennifer Jensen PNP, Dr. Avanti Shah pediatric pulmonologist, Drs. Joy Koopmans and Susan Fuchs pediatric emergency medicine and Dr. Aimen Shaaban, pediatric surgery and Director of the Chicago Fetal Institute.

Objectives
  1. Evaluate surviving family members for risk of heritable cardiac disease after a young sudden death in the family.
  2. Discuss the genetic information that families receive after a sudden death in the young.
  3. Explain the reasons that children have different clinical and genetic outcomes than adults.
  4. Discuss the trends in marijuana products and their use, including vaping.
  5. Address marijuana use with patients and parents during examinations.
  6. Educate families and communities to reduce harms associated with marijuana products.
  7. Identify aspects of severe asthma.
  8. Explain the pathophysiology of asthma and treatment effects.
  9. Identify currently available and upcoming therapies for severe asthma.
  10. Implement pediatric office emergency readiness assessment and develop office-tailored protocols.
  11. Identify key equipment and medications needed to manage pediatric office emergencies.
  12. Apply initial management procedures for some of the most common pediatric office emergencies.
  13. Describe the evidence that exists for the current practice of fetal surgery as it compares to traditional approaches.
  14. Identify current knowledge gaps that limit broader application of fetal intervention.
  15. Characterize the innovative approaches currently utilized in fetal surgical research.
