Overview
This activity will advance the knowledge of providers caring for pediatric patients in an acute care situations. Presentations will include fever in the pediatric patient, rashes, abdominal emergencies, closed head injury and sports medicine.

Objectives
  1. Recognize various pediatric skin disorders that present with a rash.
  2. Discuss the judicious use of CT scans in both minor and moderate/severe head injuries
  3. Develop a differential diagnosis of abdominal emergencies in the pediatric patient
  4. Describe tetanus risk factors, symptoms, and progression of disease
  5. Compare and contrast workup for fever in the pediatric patients
  6. Identify various forms or workplace violence
  7. Summarize the diagnosis, management, and treatment of common skin and soft tissue infections in the pediatric poplulation
  8. Apply new legislative requirements to improve treatment for sexual assault patients
  9. Discuss current standards of care for treatment of common injury patterns
  10. Identify common pediatric ENT/Ophthalmologic illnesses that are often encountered in the ED/UC setting
  11. Apply appropriate medical and/or pharmacological interventions for a patient with respiratory distress.
