Overview
This educational initiative was developed to provide a forum for discussing and presenting laboratory and clinical research concerning the care of patients by hospitalists. The meeting is designed to facilitate a discussion of latest multidisciplinary techniques for hospitalists. The meeting will be engaging Hospital Medicine Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse, Practitioners and Residents.

Objectives
  1. Explain current and future challenges and opportunities for hospital-based healthcare professionals
  2. Describe work-life satisfaction for hospital-based healthcare professionals and implement strategies to create more joy in practice
  3. Review common heuristics and cognitive biases in clinical medicine and adopt methods to improve decision making
  4. Cite best practices to optimize patient-centric care, communication, and experience
  5. Identify practice and policy challenges to observation care and lead effort to improve observation policy that mitigate the negative impacts on patients and improve the decision-making process for hospital admissions
  6. List outcomes from effective collaboration with Advanced Practice Providers in hospital medicine and implement changes to improve collaboration
  7. Describe the 4 basic cardiac ultrasound views (parasternal long axis, parasternal short axis, apical four chamber, and subcostal)
  8. Describe how POCUS can aid in the identification of right heart failure.
  9. Identify pleural effusions and pneumothorax using POCUS
  10. Describe how POCUS can be used to refine the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with respiratory failure and shock.
  11. Describe effective methods of teaching evidence-based medicine to trainees.
  12. Articulate how to perform learner needs assessment in various educational settings.
  13. Cite strategies to teach to different learners in a group setting
  14. Employ giving feedback to struggling learners
  15. Identify key features of a high-risk acute coronary syndrome patient

Main Conference- The registration fee includes conference tuition, CME credits, materials, 3 breakfasts, and breaks.

POCUS Pre-Course- The registration fee includes conference tuition, CME credits, materials, 1 breakfast, and break. **This Pre-Course is limited to 24 total registrants.

Medical Education Teaching Skills- The registration fee includes conference tuition, CME credits, materials, 1 breakfast, and break.

Cancellations must be made in writing to the Office of Continuing Medical Education. The paid registration fee, minus $50 administrative charge, will be refunded if cancellation is received by Monday, September 17, 2018.
