Overview
This educational initiative was developed to provide a forum for discussing and presenting laboratory and clinical research concerning the care of patients with breast cancer. With the emergence of prevention strategies, women at high risk of developing breast cancer are now evaluated for medical therapies, surgical options and lifestyle changes that may reduce their risk of developing breast cancer. This 4 day symposium has been designed to provide a forum for presenting and discussing the clinical research including the medical therapies, surgical options, and lifestyle changes and modifications concerning the care of patients with breast cancer.

Objectives
  1. Describe factors which influence breast cancer in the African American population
  2. Examine the incidence of lymphedema and treatment options
  3. Discuss the Role of new AJCC staging system and importance of biomarkers
  4. Cite the role of axillary surgery today in the breast cancer patient
  5. Define genomic testing options and which ones to use and review need in metastastic breast cancer
  6. Review optimal adjuvant therapy in the young pt and describe risk of local regional recurrence in young patients.
