Overview
Participants will learn about advances in cardiac surgery and mechanical circulatory support through a series of expert lectures, case presentations, journal reviews and clinical updates.

Objectives
  1. 1. Enhance the knowledge and skill of each participant to further promote a learning environment
  2. 2. Demonstrate up to date knowledge in the indication for and administration of available therapies for a wide array of cardiac surgery patients and patients requiring mechanical circulatory support
  3. 3. Identify risks associated with cardiothoracic surgery and other invasive procedures
  4. 4. Demonstrate improved diagnostic skills including how to incorporate various diagnostic technologies including transthoracic echo, transesophageal echo, CT, and CMR to guide management of cardiac surgery patients
  5. 5. Recognize and respond to abnormal hemodynamics
  6. 6. Identify clinical emergencies and implement appropriate action plans
  7. 7. Choose and utilize appropriately the various hemodynamic support and interventional / surgical tools to assist in the management of cardiogenic shock
  8. 8. Develop comprehensive management plans based on current clinical guidelines
  9. 9. Describe racial disparities encountered in cardiovascular health.
  10. 10. Review journal articles and clinical trials to implement evidence-based treatment recommendations for the cardiac surgery / mechanical circulatory support patient population
  11. 11. Present topics that are current and informative to APPs
  12. 12. Promote innovation, best practices and leadership among APPs
  13. 13. Participate with hands on training with demonstration equipment when able
  14. 14. Improve communication and care coordination across disciplines
