Overview
In the central region, we have a monthly journal club where we review landmark articles and recent publications on various topics relating to breast oncology with a focus on breast surgery. Typical topics include indications for surgery and radiation for breast cancer, the role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, benign breast disease, breast imaging, and reconstructive surgery after breast cancer. The journal club is held once a month on Mondays from 5-6:30 pm and runs from August-July. Our breast surgical fellows put together power point presentations of 4-5 articles and spend about 20 minutes per presentation including discussion. In the past two years we have expanded the journal club to include physicians and trainees from other disciplines in breast oncology and physicians from our network sites, including the West Region, the North Region, Northwest Region, and South Region. The residents and medical students also participate with our APPs, nurses. NM faculty from breast surgery and other disciplines from the central region and regional sites host depending on the topic.

Objectives
  1. To review the landmark articles and recent practice changing research studies that impact breast surgical oncology.
