19th Annual Midwest Hospital Medicine Conference

This educational initiate was developed to provide a forum for reviewing the multitude of advances applicable to the practice of hospitalists medicine. The meeting is designed to facilitate a discussion of the latest multidisciplinary techniques of hospitalists.

1. Main Course - Assess current challenges and opportunities for hospital-based healthcare professionals
2. Main Course - Examine approaches to clinical reasoning and diagnosis
3. Main Course - Identify common symptoms and signs of substance withdrawal, strategies to manage withdrawal, and treatment options for substance use disorders
4. Main Course - Describe optimal approaches to management of patients with cirrhosis
5. Main Course - Summarize the most relevant and potentially practice-changing clinical research related to hospital medicine from the past year
6. Pre-Course - Summarize two important critical care publications from the past year
7. Pre-Course - Implement an evidence-based approach to the diagnosis and treatment of pneumonia in the ICU
8. Pre-Course - Describe an evidence-based approach to the diagnosis and management of left and right heart failure
9. Pre-Course - Apply an evidence-based approach to neuroprognostication following cardiac arrest
10. Pre-Course - Implement a physiology-based approach to initial ventilator settings for critically ill patients

The Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
