21st Annual Highlights of Recent Scientific Liver Meetings: Impact on Clinical Practice

Overview
We plan to present the current best evidence of care so that community practitioners can update their knowledge and practices to improve the care provided at the time of presentation and prior to referral to quaternary care.

Objectives
  1. Review common causes of cirrhosis, including hepatitis B, hepatitis C and primary biliary cholangitis.
  2. Describe the newest treatment options for cirrhosis.
  3. Explain the spectrum of acute liver failure and the selection of patients for transplantation or medical treatment alone.
  4. Discuss the current status of liver transplantation, with attention to new immunosuppressives and the place of living donor liver transplantation.
