6th Annual Women in Medicine Conference: Forum for Opportunities – Empowering Success

Women in medicine face unique challenges and obstacles throughout their professional careers. These challenges may affect leadership development and opportunities for women in medicine resulting in a gender gap in the governance of academic medical centers. Women physicians and other health care workers currently lack a conference or forum for discussing strategies to achieve equality in the workplace, wellness and work life balance, mentorship and career development.

The 6th annual Northwestern Women in Medicine conference will discuss topics relevant to all clinicians, researchers and healthcare workers. We will review data from the literature, identify barriers and facilitators, and discuss tools to support and promote the development of leaders who identify as women and sexual/gender minorities. We will highlight the role of allies in creating a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environment.

1. Identify and implement strategies to increase sponsorship of women and sexual and gender minorities in medicine and science that harness the power of allyship and sponsorship
2. Discuss key strategies to support the professional development of allies
3. Teach strategies to mitigate bias in the work environment
4. Explore ways to promote equity in leadership among women and gender and sexual minority individuals

This is a hybrid activity with in-person and virtual attendance options.

Registration will close on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. On-site registration will be available.
