Overview
One-day in-person program designed for the primary care professionals covering issues commonly confronted in their daily practice. Featured lectures will cover signs of child abuse, recommended vaccine schedules, immediate care situations that present in the primary care office, depression, bipolar disease and anxiety. The second half of the day will cover swallowing and speech disorders, eczema and managing the child with complex medical needs.

Objectives
  1. Identify indicators of child abuse and neglect
  2. Describe the process for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect
  3. Review latest evidence-based recommendations for vaccine recommendations in children
  4. Discuss the areas of divergence between ACIP recommendations compared to society and public health group recommendations
  5. Review key points to discuss with families when communicating about vaccine recommendations
  6. Review updates to evidence-based guidelines for common presentations to immediate care centers
  7. Discuss ways to set up your primary care practice to avoid unnecessary referrals to immediate care
  8. Describe anxiety and differentiate between normal anxiety and various disorders
  9. Learn how to manage anxiety in the patient
  10. Discuss atypical' or 'next-generation' antipsychotic medications
  11. Explain how antipsychotics given to children can reduce aggression and dangerous behaviors
  12. Discuss how developmental pathologies commonly precedes the onset of psychotic symptoms associated with schizophrenia and bipolar disease

  15. Recognize the presentations of pediatric atopic dermatitis
  16. Appropriately design therapy plans for mild to atopic dermatitis
  17. Discuss new and evolving therapies for pediatric atopic dermatitis
  18. Identify which children in pediatric practice qualify for key state and federal services
  19. Incorporate best practices to appeal denials of services into patient-level advocacy

Registration is due approximately 10 days prior to each course and is non-refundable. If registering for the discount packages, please complete by November 9, 2025. There is a strict no-refund policy unless request is received seven days prior to the event. Consideration will be given to emergency situations and a credit for a future event will be offered.
